today open 11:00AM 6:00PM

Labor presents Brazilian visual artist and researcher Daniel de Paula's first solo exhibition in Mexico.

On the day of the opening, the artist will lead a walkthrough of the exhibition at 6pm

Inalienable, imprescriptible e inembargable results from fieldwork conducted by the artist around energy-generating infrastructures in the surroundings of Montezuma (Brazil), a city located in an area with a historically low human development index, where colossal wind turbines stretch over the landscape.

The show arises from the need to critically reflect upon a set of coercive global processes that are linked to the territorialization of capital, in which spatial and infrastructural planning are closely related to practices of exploitation and the abstract logics of property, labor and the production of value.

Disguised under technical and progressive discourses praising renewable forms of energy, such operations violently transform the landscape into a productive force of capitalist society, where, finally, land becomes a financial asset to be grabbed, commodified and speculated upon.
