Papiel

Closing

-> Mar 30 2024

Casa Equis presents the closing of the exhibition Papiel by Diana Bama.

Diana Bama's exhibition that conceives skin as space, containment and connection, concludes at Casa Equis México. By blurring the line between paper and skin, the artist explores the different connections and changes, challenging the way she represents herself. While tattoos are considered permanent, their support, the skin they are on, is not. Exploring this interconnection and understanding our skin as a canvas of memory and containment, she exchanges ink for paint and skin for paper. Tattoos preserve memory with symbolic magic. Long before paper, our skin carried what was precious and powerful to us. Inspired by her works on her skin, "Papiel" reinterprets the relationship between us, animals and nature, questioning emotional ties and the magic that emanates from them.
