Proyectos Monclova

today open 11:00AM 5:00PM

The work of Gustavo Pérez (Mexico City, 1950) is a constant dialogue between the artistic and formal possibilities of clay. Since 1971, the year he began his studies at the Escuela de Diseño y Artesanías de la Ciudadela (The Ciudadela School of Design and Craft), he has a degree of certainty regarding his work: positioning ceramics in the artistic discourse. We are thrilled to present this exhibition by the Mexican artist, bringing together work from the last ten years that demonstrates Pérez's ability to use clay, the wheel, and fire for expressive purposes.

Gustavo Pérez has had important solo and group exhibitions, among which the following stand out: Self Portrait, Museo de Antropología de Xalapa, Veracruz; Gustavo Pérez. Recent work, Palacio de Bellas Artes Museum, Mexico City, Mexico; Communicating Vessels, Carrillo Gil Museum of Art, Mexico City, Mexico; Gustavo Pérez: Ceramics, Museum of Modern Art, Mexico City, Mexico; Retrospect, Franz Mayer Museum, Mexico City, Mexico; The Ceramics of Gustavo Pérez, Macay Museum, Yucatan, Mexico; Gustavo Pérez, recent work, Manuel Felguérez Museum of Abstract Art, Zacatecas, Mexico, among many others. His work is part of permanent collections of institutions such as the Los Angeles County Museum of Art, Los Angeles, USA; Museum of Modern Art, Mexico; The Museum of Ceramic Art, Shiga, Japón; and The Museum of Fine Arts, Quebec, Canada, to mention just a few.
